Title - Northumberland Coast - See England By Rail.
Location - Bamburgh and The Farne Islands, Northumberland, England.
Artist - Jack Merriott (1901-1968).
Description - A stunning depiction of Northumberland countryside, focusing on the coastal village of Bamburgh. The bulk of the ancient castle is shown to sit above the village, and dominates this part of the coast. Out to sea, the Farne Islands are just visible, and are home to significant numbers of seabirds. Merriott's study of the clouds is wonderful, showing passing showers and sunny interludes. The view is very much that seen when approaching Bamburgh from the west on the B1342.
Year Published - 1950s
Size - Quad Royal (approx 50 x 40in or 127 x 101.5cm) plus linen border.
