Title - 800 Miles of Rambles.
Artist - Heather (Herry) Perry (1893-1962).

Description - Rambling was a popular pursuit in the 1920s and 30s. This poster has a  very clever border design by Herry Perry, where the simple image of a man and dog striding across a field with a fence and tree behind, is reused and adjusted to show a version for each month of the year. The use of only three colours highlights the simplicity and effectiveness of the design. The London Transport Museum have a slightly different version of this poster, which doesn't mention the ticket office, only the bookstall.

More About The Artist:
Heather (Herry) Perry studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts. She was a successful graphic artist, whose work included many book illustrations, wood engravings, painting and designs for pub signs and playing cards. She designed over 50 posters for London Transport during the 1920s and 1930s.
