Description - An early black on light beige architectural painting for the GWR by Fred Taylor. The view is in Abbey Churchyard, looking towards the west front of Bath Abbey, with the Pump Room buildings on the right. His representation of all the stonework is wonderful, and of note is the fact that all of the bath stone is now so much cleaner!
Year Published - 1926
Size - Quad Royal (approx 50 x 40in or 127 x 101.5cm) plus linen border.

Repaired edges, replaced small paper-losses. The poster had been previously attached to wooden batons, one of which had been removed and taken bits of paper with it from the bottom edge. The top baton has left rust marks from the nails, and the poster was generally dirty and heavily creased at the edges. More detailed photos available on request.
More About The Artist:
Fred Taylor was born in London, studied art in Paris, London and Italy, and worked at the Waring and Gillow studio. He designed posters from 1908 until the 1940s, and worked with the Navy on camouflage during WWII. His work is in several public collections. He produced posters for a variety of railway companies, London Transport, the Empire Marketing Board and shipping companies.
