Description - A split-screen image showing a "Then" depiction of bathing machines and ladies in full dress from the Victorian era, and a "Now" depiction of some legs and part of a bathing costume showing the more open time for women of the 1930s.
The LNER produced a number of Then and Now posters, to show how they were part of the modernising world of the 1930s.

More About The Artist:
Alfred Reginald Thomson was born in Bangalore, India. He studied at the John Hassell Art School in Kensington, later becoming a commercial artist and illustrator. He was also an Official War Artist, and worked at the 1948 London Olympic Games. He became a full member of the RA in 1945.
He produced posters for the LNER, ICI and other big businesses. His work is held in many collections and galleries.
