Description - A historic view of Lynmouth, painted before the tragic events of 1952, when a severe flood destroyed much of the village and washed away it's bridges and river-mouth. The peaceful image of men at work on their boats and the village clustered in the centre, is overlooked by the looming mass of the hills of Exmoor behind.

Grade: B+/B, un-conserved.
Some brown spotting at bottom, some brown age-discolouring throughout, pin holes, a little creasing. The price does take into account the condition. More detailed photos are available on request if required.

Jack Merriott was a landscape and portrait painter, who used both oil and watercolour media. He lectured widely, wrote and illustrated related books, and was vice president of the RI. He produced artwork for quite a number of railway posters.
