Location - St Boswells, Berwickshire, Scotland.
Artist - James McIntosh Patrick (1907-1998).
Description - This is a wonderful depiction of the Abbey ruins, which are situated near St Boswells, by the River Tweed, and actually in Berwickshire. It's graveyard is the burial place of Sir Walter Scott and Field Marshall Earl Haig. Some parts of the Abbey date back to Norman times.
This poster is one of a collection saved by a railwayman who worked at Carlisle station from the 1940s to the 1960s. The poster was never used and is in the same condition as originally received at the station for display.

More About The Artist:
James McIntosh Patrick was born in Dundee, Scotland, and spent most of his life there. He studied at Glasgow School of Art under Maurice Greiffenhagen .
He started out producing etchings, then moved to watercolours and oils, and is best known for his Scottish landscape paintings. His work is in many museums and gallery. He produced a number of posters for the LNER and British Railways.
