Artist - James McIntosh Patrick (1907-1998).
Description - A bright sunny day, with walkers out enjoying the lush Pittencrieff Park gardens, with the world famous abbey behind. A peacock takes centre stage at the bottom of the poster, and they have been a constant sight there since 1905. Dunfermline was the birthplace in 1835 and early home of Andrew Carnegie, before he emigrated to the USA. In his later years he helped to landscape the town centre and setup the Carnegie Trust there. Many Kings and Queens of Scotland are buried at the abbey, as well as Robert the Bruce.

James McIntosh Patrick was born in Dundee, Scotland, and spent most of his life there. He studied at Glasgow School of Art under Maurice Greiffenhagen.
He started out producing etchings, then moved to watercolours and oils, and is best known for his Scottish landscape paintings. His work is in many museums and galleries. He produced a number of posters for the LNER and British Railways.
