Description - Un unusual depiction of Ilfracombe. Whereas most posters concentrate on the harbour area, here we see the rocky North Devon coastline viewed from the rocks along the edge of Capstone Hill (with a little artistic licence), with the backs of the buildings on Capstone Road, followed by Cheyne Beach before the sea wall was built across it. The Chapel of St Nicholas is on its steep hill in the centre, and in the distance is the Hillsborough nature reserve.

Repairs to many serious tears and small areas of paper loss within the image, which are still visible when viewed closely. Also some remaining engrained dirt and light fox spotting in the bottom section. Displays well nonetheless. More detailed photos are available on request if required.

Leonard Richmond was born in Somerset. He was a Canadian government war artists during WWI and then from the mid 1920s was a prolific artist for the railway companies for posters and other publicity material.
