Description - Sherwin's colourful summer view centres on Littlehampton's lighthouse which stands at the entrance to the River Arun. We are looking up river from the small pier with the sweeping sandy town beach heading off from the right side of the poster. The town was always popular with families as well as the yachting fraternity.

Folds, 'S/M Pontrilas' in red pen on rear, slightly showing through within the blue of the river (presumably where the poster was originally sent for display). More detailed photos are available on request if required.

Frank Sherwin was a marine & landscape painter in oil & watercolour and a poster designer. He was born in Derby in 1896, the son of a painter.
He served in WW2 as a camouflage advisor around East Anglian airfields, and achieved a prolific output of art for the railways with posters for GWR, LMS, LNER & BR.
