Description - An exterior view of Liverpool's Town Hall, one of the finest 1750s buildings in Britain. The city crest is also shown towards the top right of the poster. The wording below is as much advertising British Railways as it is Liverpool.
Buckle produced the artwork for a small series of similar architectural posters covering important British cities which did not usually have posters to advertise them; the others being Birmingham, Cardiff, Derby, Glasgow and Manchester.

Claude Henry Buckle was born in London in 1905. He trained as an architect, but turned to art in 1928. He produced commissioned artwork for the new nuclear power stations around the country in the 1950s, and was a close friend of Terence Cuneo. He was a painter in oils and watercolour, particularly of marine subjects, and was prolific in his production of artwork for railway posters. He produced posters for GWR, LMS, SR & BR.
