More About The Artist:
William Douglas Macleod was born in Glasgow in 1892, worked in a bank, served with the Royal Artillery during WWI, then enrolled at the Glasgow School of Art. On graduation in 1923, he began painting Scottish and European landscapes in oils and pastels as well as producing many fine etchings in Spain and North Africa. In the 1920s he also worked as a cartoonist for the Glasgow Evening News and produced a number of floral still-lives in pastel. He produced a number of posters for British Railways.
