Description - A post-war updating of a 1938 poster by the Southern Railway, painted by Kerry Lee. It is a pictorial map of central London, with a very decorative border. It shows prominent landmarks with lots of captions and humorous cartoons peopled with local and historical characters, tourists and immigrants. It also includes the artist and his dog towards the bottom right corner of the map. All the British Railways stations are also prominently shown. The border consists of cartoon illustrations of people from all the London boroughs with shields showing the coats of arms of each. At the bottom is an illustration of the royal procession at the State Opening of Parliament, with the royal carriage.

Kerry Ernest Lee is best known for his amusing pictorial maps of many British towns and cities for British Railways and the Travel Association of Great Britain. However, he was a very busy commercial artist, also producing designs for everything from telegram forms and Christmas cards to biscuit tin lids and board games.
