Description - Milton Keynes is a modern planned city known for it's trees, walking routes and roundabouts. MK did not exist during the era of traditional railway posters, but it is was chosen to be depicted in this bold, abstract and colourful style by Edward Pond in 1989. He was commissioned by the newly formed Network SouthEast region to produce posters for a large number of destinations in the region, as well as murals for inside the trains and other publicity material.

Edward Pond was born in Hackney in 1929 before moving to Romford as a child, attended art school in Dagenham, and then the Royal College of Art. He was a textile designer, oil painter and silkscreen artist with his own consultancy producing work for a number of large companies and organisations.
