Artist - Walter Ernest Spradbery (1889-1969).
Description - A seemingly misty view of Ripon Cathedral, showing it towering over the houses of the ancient Yorkshire town of Ripon (probably depicting the end of Skellfield Terrace), with the peaceful River Skell at Alma Weir in the foreground. At the bottom is a large 'Snipe' added for utilising the poster within Belgium. It gives agency details for both Antwerp and Brussels, and also includes an early LNER logo from the 1920s.

Walter Ernest Spradbery was born in East Dulwich, London. He was a watercolourist, linocut artist, poster designer and art teacher. He produced a large number of poster for the London Transport companies, as well as some for the LNER and British Railways.
