Description - The eastern end of the sandy beach at Seaford is overlooked by the rocky mass of the chalk cliffs of Seaford Head. In more recent times the beach needs to be topped up as the sand is regularly washed away. It has been a popular destination for family trips and holidays since the railway arrived in 1864.

Frank Sherwin was a marine & landscape painter in oil & watercolour and a poster designer. He was born in Derby in 1896, the son of a painter.
He served in WW2 as a camouflage advisor around East Anglian airfields, and achieved a prolific output of art for the railways with posters for GWR, LMS, LNER & BR.
