Leslie Carr was born in Hove, West Sussex in 1891. He started work at the London Stock Exchange, then served in WWI, and then became a full time artist and graphic designer. He had a martime interest, and also produced posters for the LNER and Southern Railway, and later British Railways as well as Morris Motors.
