Description - A humorous poster released during the Second World War as a combined effort by the Big Four Railway Companies and London Transport under the name 'British Railways', to try to encourage passengers to be more organised when travelling, and so help the system be more efficient at a time of great difficulty. It depicts a queue of people, involved in the war effort in various ways, and all looking to be in a hurry, being held up by a lady with a case who can't find her ticket.

Reginald Mayes was born in Yarmouth, and his career began in the design studio of the Eastern Daily Press in Norwich. In the early 1930s he became chief staff artist at the London Midland and Scottish Railway public relations department, designing leaflets and posters. In the Second World War, Mayes produced many posters, including some discouraging railway travel with slogans such as The signal is against holiday travel this Easter. After the war he did freelance work before retiring to Kent where he relaxed painting landscapes.
