Description - Buckle's view is of a couple relaxing outside the 1920s Winter Gardens Pavilion, set just behind the main beach. The background is looking north-west along the beach towards Anchor Head hillside which includes the spire of Holy Trinity Church and the woods to the north of town. The poster was produced by the GWR, and issued jointly with the LMS, the two companies collaborating on advertising in some parts of the country.

Not folded, backed on Japan (very thin Japanese paper) as acquired. Repaired small tears top and bottom edges, minor age-browning of the paper. More detailed photos are available on request if required.
More About The Artist:
Claude Henry Buckle was born in London in 1905. He trained as an architect, but turned to art in 1928. He produced commissioned artwork for the new nuclear power stations around the country in the 1950s, and was a close friend of Terence Cuneo. He was a painter in oils and watercolour, particularly of marine subjects, and was prolific in his production of artwork for railway posters. He produced posters for GWR, LMS, SR & BR.
